One of Iñaki Alberdi's abiding passions as an accordionist is to perform repertoire that incorporates the accordion into the world of academic concerts. From the beginning of his career, he has therefore considered collaborations with contemporary composers essential to expanding this repertoire, which is the best legacy, for future generations of accordionists.
Through the possibilities of transcription, he able to extend the range of the instrument even further and thus composers such as Thomas Louis de Victoria, J. С. Bach, Antonio Soler, Isaac Albéniz or Alberto Hinaster pass through the emotional and enveloping presence of the instrument.
His entire repertoire as a performer, from the Renaissance to the 21st century, represents a new perspective on classical music that dialogues between the popular and the avant-garde and becomes the sound of our time for classical music.
He collaborates closely with various contemporary composers and premieres works by Sofia Gubaidulina, Karlheinz Stockhausen, Luis de Pablo, Joan Guinjoan, Gabriel Ercoreca, Ramon Lascano, Jesus Torres, Alberto Posadas, and José María Sánchez-Verdu.
